One-Shot: Making Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. A Comic Series

AOS

Not too long ago, Marvel revealed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Variant Covers. Having covers of different Marvel comics releasing in the month of November. Each of these variant covers features a different character from the show. Though it is a nice idea, I think many would agree that we’d rather see an actual comic of this team than variants for comics that they don’t have too much connection to being new characters.

Whether Wave Two or even Wave Three of Marvel NOW!, it needs to happen in my opinion. Of everything going on in the Marvel Universe, there needs to be a ground team and a focus on S.H.I.E.L.D. in some way that isn’t about the mutant problem. That is where this book and team comes in. They are ground zero and a way to bring order to a world that has been thrown into chaos. Depending on the situation when All-New Marvel NOW! begins. Of course you’d say the show is about the team showing their cooperation and ingenuity as they try to work together figuring out newly emerging superhuman individuals in the world. Also that it’s set at the start of an Avengers world, but that never has to be the case when making that transition.

All-New_X-Men_19_MAOS_VariantIn this case, they can be brought into a world that is less tolerant of the misuse of things people aren’t supposed to have access to. Manipulating time, bending time, time-traveling, or just bringing unnecessary attention to Earth. That is everything wrong with the Marvel Universe and why Infinity has taken place in the first place. Things they work to prevent in the show have been abused to the point where there is real consequences and ones beyond their control to deal. That is where the agents come in, they enforce the fact that these things should not be taken advantage of. That just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. To show those who broke time that there are real consequences for tampering with things most beings in the Universe would not dare mess with for personal gain.

This book would definitely succeed. What we need out there is another street level book. One that deals with powers, yet has a focus on those who do not. Not heavy on action, yet shows enough of normal people that we don’t see enough of in the other superhero books. Can’t be too hard to ask for and this is an opportunity worth taking while the show is still fresh. It could even do better as a comic than the show, who knows.

Do you think Marvel should make a Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. comic series?
