Black Bat #6 Review

The Black Bat 006-000

Black Bat #6

Written by: Brian Buccellato
Art by: Ronan Cliquet

Last we saw, the Black Bat crossed the line last month doing something he may regret later even if it was a mistake, but right now he’s hot on the trail of the missing cops. Can he find them in time? Things haven’t quite been going his way up to this point and you appreciate how he has to deal with every situation he finds himself in. Black Bat isn’t a perfect hero, and certainly doesn’t make all the right choices when his anger gets in the way, but that is what sets him apart from other heroes out there.

His best lead to finding out where the kidnapped cops were was Brute, sadly that little mistake happened to be accidentally killing him while trying to save himself. This of course doesn’t stop Black Bat from being able to put the pieces together quickly. From there turning into a race against time to make sure the cops are safe and the bomb is stopped. Buccellato created such an intense moment out of this knowing that any wrong assumption on his part could have spelled failure. Baldwin is really starting to become someone worth caring for because you see how this is actually affecting her. The money she put into it and the frustration of keeping Black Bat in line.

Very exciting issue in which Buccellato has written a great build up to a conclusion worth reading. It’s dark, it’s gritty, and Cliquet maintains that consistency which makes the scenes so intense. Black Bat is a fun book that you wouldn’t regret reading if not because he kicks ass. Sure it took some time for things to pick up, but when they did it was for the better.

Score: 8.2/10
